PSLEThe graphs show the total number of leaflets machines M and N printed from the start. Both machines started printing at the same time.
- How many less leaflets did M print than N in 3 minutes?
- Both machines did not change their rates of printing throughout. When M had printed 250 leaflets, how many leaflets had N printed?
(a)
Machine M:
10 min → 50
Machine N:
10 min → 60
Machine M less than Machine N:
10 min → 60 - 50 = 10
1 min → 10 ÷ 10 = 1
3 min → 3 x 1 = 3
Number of leaflets that machine M printed less than Machine N in 3 min = 3
(b)
Machine M:
250 leaflets → 50 min
Machine N:
10 min → 60
1 min → 60 ÷ 10 = 6
50 min → 50 x 6 = 300
Number of leaflets that N had printed when M had printed 250 leaflets = 300
Answer(s): (a) 3; (b) 300
