Three boys, Rio, Joe and Luc had the same number of notes. Rio and Joe each had of mix of $10-notes and $5-notes. Rio had 7 $5-notes while Joe had 12 $5-notes. Luc had only $10-notes.

1. Of the three boys, who had the most money? 
2. What was the difference in the total value of Rio and Joe's notes? 
3. Joe used all his $10-notes to buy a gift. He then had $190 less than Luc. How many $10-notes did Luc have?

The three boys had the same number of notes.
$5-notes have a lower denomination than $10-notes.

Since Luc had only $10-notes, he had the most money.

(b)
Difference in the number of notes of different values
= 12 - 7
= 5

Difference in the value of $10-notes and $5-notes
= 10 - 5
= $5

Difference in the total value of Rio's and Joe's notes
= 5 x 5
= $25

(c)
Value of $5-notes that Joe had left
= 12 x 5
= $60

Total value that Luc had
= 190 + 60
= $250

Number of $10-notes that Luc had
= 250 ÷ 10
= 25
