At a carnival, 40% of the tickets were sold at full price and 10% of the tickets at half price. The remaining 200 tickets were given away free. The total amount of money collected was $8280. What was the price of the ticket at half price? 
Percentage of the tickets given free
= 100% - 40% - 10%
= 50%

50% → 200

1% → 200 ÷ 50 = 4

Number of tickets sold at full price
= 40% of the tickets
= 40 x 4
= 160

Number of tickets sold at half price
= 10% of the tickets
= 10 x 4
= 40

Value	2 u	1 u
Total value	320 u	40 u		360 u

Cost of 1 full price ticket = 2 u
Cost of 1 half price ticket = 1 u

Total amount collected
= 160 x 2 u + 40 x 1 u
= 320 u + 40 u
= 360 u

360 u = 8280

1 u = 8280 ÷ 360 = 23

Price of the ticket at half price 
= 1 u
= $23
