Number of sweets |
5 u |
1 u |
Let 1 B be 1 blue bag.
Let 1 V be 1 violet bag.
5 u = 30 B
1 u = 6 B --- (1)
1 u = 18 V --- (2)
(1) = (2)
6 B = 18 V
1 B = 18 ÷ 6 = 3 V
1 B + 2 V = 10 --- (3)
Substitute 1 B = 3 V into (3).
3 V + 2 V = 10
5 V = 10
1 V = 10 ÷ 5 = 2
From (2)
1 u = 18 V
1 u = 18 x 2 = 36
Number of sweets that Gabby had at first
= 5 u + 1 u
= 6 u
= 6 x 36
= 216
Answer(s): 216
