Number of bags |
9 |
18 |
Number of chocolate bars |
3 u |
1 u |
Let 1 B be 1 blue bag.
Let 1 V be 1 violet bag.
3 u = 9 B
1 u = 3 B --- (1)
1 u = 18 V --- (2)
(1) = (2)
3 B = 18 V
1 B = 18 ÷ 3 = 6 V
1 B + 4 V = 60 --- (3)
Substitute 1 B = 6 V into (3).
6 V + 4 V = 60
10 V = 60
1 V = 60 ÷ 10 = 6
From (2)
1 u = 18 V
1 u = 18 x 6 = 108
Number of chocolate bars that Xylia had at first
= 3 u + 1 u
= 4 u
= 4 x 108
= 432
Answer(s): 432
