Number of bags |

15 |
Number of lollipops |
2 u |
1 u |
Let 1 B be 1 blue bag.
Let 1 V be 1 violet bag.
2 u = 6 B
1 u = 3 B --- (1)
1 u = 15 V --- (2)
(1) = (2)
3 B = 15 V
1 B = 15 ÷ 3 = 5 V
1 B + 2 V = 70 --- (3)
Substitute 1 B = 5 V into (3).
5 V + 2 V = 70
7 V = 70
1 V = 70 ÷ 7 = 10
From (2)
1 u = 15 V
1 u = 15 x 10 = 150
Number of lollipops that Gabby had at first
= 2 u + 1 u
= 3 u
= 3 x 150
= 450
Answer(s): 450
