45 of the lollipops into 12 blue bags and the rest into 21 violet bags. There were 30 lollipops altogether in 1 blue and 3 violet bags. How many lollipops did Raeann have at first?

Let 1 B be 1 blue bag.
Let 1 V be 1 violet bag.
4 u = 12 B
1 u = 3 B --- (1)
1 u = 21 V --- (2)
(1) = (2)
3 B = 21 V
1 B = 21 ÷ 3 = 7 V
1 B + 3 V = 30 --- (3)
Substitute 1 B = 7 V into (3).
7 V + 3 V = 30
10 V = 30
1 V = 30 ÷ 10 = 3

1 u = 21 V
1 u = 21 x 3 = 63
Number of lollipops that Raeann had at first
= 4 u + 1 u
= 5 u
= 5 x 63
