34 of the lollipops into 15 blue bags and the rest into 25 violet bags. There were 64 lollipops altogether in 1 blue and 3 violet bags. How many lollipops did Hilda have at first?

Let 1 B be 1 blue bag.
Let 1 V be 1 violet bag.
3 u = 15 B
1 u = 5 B --- (1)
1 u = 25 V --- (2)
(1) = (2)
5 B = 25 V
1 B = 25 ÷ 5 = 5 V
1 B + 3 V = 64 --- (3)
Substitute 1 B = 5 V into (3).
5 V + 3 V = 64
8 V = 64
1 V = 64 ÷ 8 = 8

1 u = 25 V
1 u = 25 x 8 = 200
Number of lollipops that Hilda had at first
= 3 u + 1 u
= 4 u
= 4 x 200
