Number of bags |
32 |
8 |
Number of chocolate bars |
4 u |
1 u |
Let 1 B be 1 blue bag.
Let 1 V be 1 violet bag.
4 u = 32 B
1 u = 8 B --- (1)
1 u = 8 V --- (2)
(1) = (2)
8 B = 8 V
1 B = 8 ÷ 8 = 1 V
1 B + 3 V = 12 --- (3)
Substitute 1 B = 1 V into (3).
1 V + 3 V = 12
4 V = 12
1 V = 12 ÷ 4 = 3
From (2)
1 u = 8 V
1 u = 8 x 3 = 24
Number of chocolate bars that Gillian had at first
= 4 u + 1 u
= 5 u
= 5 x 24
= 120
Answer(s): 120
