Let 1 B be 1 blue bag.
Let 1 V be 1 violet bag.
3 u = 18 B
1 u = 6 B --- (1)
1 u = 18 V --- (2)

6 B = 18 V
1 B = 18 ÷ 6 = 3 V
1 B + 2 V = 40 --- (3)
Substitute 1 B = 3 V into (3).
3 V + 2 V = 40
5 V = 40
1 V = 40 ÷ 5 = 8

1 u = 18 x 8 = 144
