The figure shows an empty flower vase of height 56 cm. It is made from 2 containers. The top container is in the form of a cuboid which has a square base side 9 cm and height 46 cm. The bottom container is in the form of a cube of 10 cm. 2.62 litres of water is poured into the empty vase. What is the height of the water level from the base of the vase? (1 litre = 1000 cm³)
Volume of the bottom container
= 10 x 10 x 10
= 1000 cm³

2.62 ℓ = 2620 cm³

Volume of water in the top container
= 2620 - 1000
= 1620 cm³ 

Base area of the top container
= 9 x 9
= 81 cm²

Height of water level in the top container
= 1620 ÷ 81
= 20 cm

Height of water level from the base of vase
= 10 + 20
= 30 cm
