The figure shows an empty flower vase of height 51 cm. It is made from 2 tanks. The top tank is in the form of a cuboid which has a square base side 6 cm and height 40 cm. The bottom tank is in the form of a cube of 11 cm. 2.33 litres of water is poured into the empty vase. What is the height of the water level from the base of the vase? (1 litre = 1000 cm³)
Volume of the bottom tank
= 11 x 11 x 11
= 1331 cm³

2.33 ℓ = 2330 cm³

Volume of water in the top tank
= 2330 - 1331
= 999 cm³ 

Base area of the top tank
= 6 x 6
= 36 cm²

Height of water level in the top tank
= 999 ÷ 36
= 27.75 cm

Height of water level from the base of vase
= 11 + 27.75
= 38.75 cm
