A rectangular tank measuring 64 cm by 46 cm by 43 cm was filled with water to a height of 27 cm at first. After 8 completely filled identical jugs of water were poured into the tank, the new water level in the tank became 33 cm.

1. Find the volume of water in each jug in cubic centimetres.
2. How much more water would be needed to fill the tank completely? (Give your answer in litres.)

Difference in the height of the new and old water level
= 33 - 27
= 6 cm

Total volume of water added
= 46 x 64 x 6
= 17664 cm³ 

Volume of water in each jug
= 17664 ÷ 8
= 2208 cm³

(b)
Difference in the height of the tank and the water after 8 jugs of water were poured in
= 43 - 33
= 10 cm

Volume of water needed to fill the tank completely
= 46 x 64 x 10
= 29440 cm³

1000 cm³ = 1 ℓ
29440 cm³ = 29.44 ℓ
