Mrs Howard was preparing some persimmon syrup concentration for her friends. The amount of persimmon syrup initially used was
310 of the amount of water used. To make it more diluted, she decided to add 1500 mℓ more water into the syrup drink such that
16 of the concentration was syrup. How much syrup did she use?
|
Syrup |
Water |
Before |
3x1 = 3 u |
10x1 = 10 u |
Change |
|
+ 1500 mℓ |
After |
1x3 = 3 u |
5x3 = 15 u |
The volume of syrup at first and in the end remains unchanged. Make the volume of syrup the same. LCM of 1 and 3 is 3.
Volume of water that Mrs Howard added
= 15 u - 10 u
= 5 u
5 u = 1500
1 u = 1500 ÷ 5 = 300
Volume of syrup that Mrs Howard used
= 3 u
= 3 x 300
= 900 mℓ
Answer(s): 900 mℓ
