In a supermarkets,
57 of the customers were men. Within five minutes, 53 more men and 25 more women entered the supermarkets. As a result, there were 100 more men than women. How many customers were there altogether in the end?

Men |
Women |
Before |
5 u |
2 u |
Change |
+ 53 |
+ 25 |
After |
5 u + 53 |
2 u + 25 |
If there are another 100 women in the end, the number of women and men will be the same.
5 u + 53 = 2 u + 25 + 100
5 u - 2 u = 125 - 53
3 u = 72
1 u = 72 ÷ 3 = 24
Number of customers in the end
= 5 u + 53 + 2 u + 25
= 7 u + 78
= 7 x 24 + 78
= 168 + 78
= 246
Answer(s): 246
