In a shopping centres,
56 of the customers were men. Within five minutes, 57 more men and 27 more women entered the shopping centres. As a result, there were 90 more men than women. How many customers were there altogether in the end?

Men |
Women |
Before |
5 u |
1 u |
Change |
+ 57 |
+ 27 |
After |
5 u + 57 |
1 u + 27 |
If there are another 90 women in the end, the number of women and men will be the same.
5 u + 57 = 1 u + 27 + 90
5 u - 1 u = 117 - 57
4 u = 60
1 u = 60 ÷ 4 = 15
Number of customers in the end
= 5 u + 57 + 1 u + 27
= 6 u + 84
= 6 x 15 + 84
= 90 + 84
= 174
Answer(s): 174
