A container contained 2.7 ℓ more water than a pot. After some water was poured from the container to the pot, both the container and the pot had 5 ℓ of water each. How much water was there in the pot at first?

Volume of water in the pot = 1 u
Volume of water in the container = 1 u + 2.7
Total volume of water
= 1 u + 1 u + 2.7
= 2 u + 2.7
Total volume of water
= 2 x 5
= 10 ℓ
When water is poured from the container to the pot, the total volume remains unchanged.
2 u + 2.7 = 10
2 u = 10 - 2.7
2 u = 7.3
1 u = 7.3 ÷ 2 = 3.65
Volume of water in the pot at first = 3.65 ℓ
Answer(s): 3.65 ℓ
