A jar contained 4.1 ℓ more water than a pot. After some water was poured from the jar to the pot, both the jar and the pot had 8 ℓ of water each. How much water was there in the pot at first?

Volume of water in the pot = 1 u
Volume of water in the jar = 1 u + 4.1
Total volume of water
= 1 u + 1 u + 4.1
= 2 u + 4.1
Total volume of water
= 2 x 8
= 16 ℓ
When water is poured from the jar to the pot, the total volume remains unchanged.
2 u + 4.1 = 16
2 u = 16 - 4.1
2 u = 11.9
1 u = 11.9 ÷ 2 = 5.95
Volume of water in the pot at first = 5.95 ℓ
Answer(s): 5.95 ℓ
