A bottle contained 2.3 ℓ more water than a pot. After some water was poured from the bottle to the pot, both the bottle and the pot had 5 ℓ of water each. How much water was there in the pot at first?

Volume of water in the pot = 1 u
Volume of water in the bottle = 1 u + 2.3
Total volume of water
= 1 u + 1 u + 2.3
= 2 u + 2.3
Total volume of water
= 2 x 5
= 10 ℓ
When water is poured from the bottle to the pot, the total volume remains unchanged.
2 u + 2.3 = 10
2 u = 10 - 2.3
2 u = 7.7
1 u = 7.7 ÷ 2 = 3.85
Volume of water in the pot at first = 3.85 ℓ
Answer(s): 3.85 ℓ
