A tank contained 3.3 ℓ more water than a can. After some water was poured from the tank to the can, both the tank and the can had 5 ℓ of water each. How much water was there in the can at first?

Volume of water in the can = 1 u
Volume of water in the tank = 1 u + 3.3
Total volume of water
= 1 u + 1 u + 3.3
= 2 u + 3.3
Total volume of water
= 2 x 5
= 10 ℓ
When water is poured from the tank to the can, the total volume remains unchanged.
2 u + 3.3 = 10
2 u = 10 - 3.3
2 u = 6.7
1 u = 6.7 ÷ 2 = 3.35
Volume of water in the can at first = 3.35 ℓ
Answer(s): 3.35 ℓ
