Tiffany bought 30 chikoos and 18 passion fruits on Thursday. Each day, she ate 4 chikoos and 1 passion fruit. She started eating her fruits on Friday.
- At the end of which day would there be an equal number of chikoos and passion fruits left? Give your answer in the following format. (Eg Monday)
- How many more passion fruits than chikoos were there on Tuesday?

Chikoos |
Passion Fruits |
Before |
30 |
18 |
Change |
- 4 u |
- 1 u |
After |
30 - 4 u |
18 - 1 u |
(a)
Let the number of days be 1 u.
The number of passion fruits and chikoos in the end is equal.
30 - 4 u = 18 - 1 u
4 u - 1 u = 30 - 18
3 u = 12
1 u = 12 ÷ 3 = 4
Tiffany ate for 4 days from Friday onwards. At the end of Monday, there would be an equal number of chikoos and passion fruits left.
(b)
Number of days from Friday to Tuesday = 5
Number of chikoos left on Tuesday
= 30 - (4 x 5)
= 30 - 20
= 10
Number of passion fruits left on Tuesday
= 18 - (1 x 5)
= 18 - 5
= 13
Number of passion fruits more than chikoos
= 13 - 10
= 3
Answer(s): (a) Monday; (b) 3
