Eva bought 25 chikoos and 15 kiwis on Monday. Each day, she ate 3 chikoos and 1 kiwi. She started eating her fruits on Tuesday.
- At the end of which day would there be an equal number of chikoos and kiwis left? Give your answer in the following format. (Eg Monday)
- How many more kiwis than chikoos were there on Sunday?

Chikoos |
Kiwis |
Before |
25 |
15 |
Change |
- 3 u |
- 1 u |
After |
25 - 3 u |
15 - 1 u |
(a)
Let the number of days be 1 u.
The number of kiwis and chikoos in the end is equal.
25 - 3 u = 15 - 1 u
3 u - 1 u = 25 - 15
2 u = 10
1 u = 10 ÷ 2 = 5
Eva ate for 5 days from Tuesday onwards. At the end of Saturday, there would be an equal number of chikoos and kiwis left.
(b)
Number of days from Tuesday to Sunday = 6
Number of chikoos left on Sunday
= 25 - (3 x 6)
= 25 - 18
= 7
Number of kiwis left on Sunday
= 15 - (1 x 6)
= 15 - 6
= 9
Number of kiwis more than chikoos
= 9 - 7
= 2
Answer(s): (a) Saturday; (b) 2
