Hilda bought 27 pears and 11 pomegranates on Friday. Each day, she ate 5 pears and 1 pomegranate. She started eating her fruits on Saturday.

The number of pomegranates and pears in the end is equal.

27 - 5 u = 11 - 1 u

4 u = 16

1 u = 16 ÷ 4 = 4

Hilda ate for 4 days from Saturday onwards.  At the end of Tuesday, there would be an equal number of pears and pomegranates left.

Number of days from Saturday to Wednesday = 5

Number of pears left on Wednesday
= 27 - (5 x 5)
= 27 - 25
= 2

Number of pomegranates left on Wednesday
= 11 - (1 x 5)
= 11 - 5
= 6

Number of pomegranates more than pears
= 6 - 2
= 4
