At a shop, there were
13 as many starfruits as pomegranates. After 3 starfruits and 25 pomegranates were sold, the number of starfruits became the same as the number of pomegranates. How many fruits were at the shop in the end?
|
Starfruits |
Pomegranates |
Before |
1 u |
3 u |
Change |
- 3 |
- 25 |
After |
1 u - 3 |
3 u - 25 |
Number of starfruits and pomegranates in the end is the same.
3 u - 25 = 1 u - 3
3 u - 1 u = 25 - 3
2 u = 22
1 u = 22 ÷ 2 = 11
Number of fruits in the end
= 1 u - 3 + 3 u - 25
= 4 u - 28
= 4 x 11 - 28
= 44 - 28
= 16
