At a mart, there were
13 as many grapefruits as dragonfruits. After 6 grapefruits and 24 dragonfruits were sold, the number of grapefruits became the same as the number of dragonfruits. How many fruits were at the mart in the end?
|
Grapefruits |
Dragonfruits |
Before |
1 u |
3 u |
Change |
- 6 |
- 24 |
After |
1 u - 6 |
3 u - 24 |
Number of grapefruits and dragonfruits in the end is the same.
3 u - 24 = 1 u - 6
3 u - 1 u = 24 - 6
2 u = 18
1 u = 18 ÷ 2 = 9
Number of fruits in the end
= 1 u - 6 + 3 u - 24
= 4 u - 30
= 4 x 9 - 30
= 36 - 30
= 6
