At a market, there were
13 as many pomegranates as dragonfruits. After 2 pomegranates and 30 dragonfruits were sold, the number of pomegranates became the same as the number of dragonfruits. How many fruits were at the market in the end?
|
Pomegranates |
Dragonfruits |
Before |
1 u |
3 u |
Change |
- 2 |
- 30 |
After |
1 u - 2 |
3 u - 30 |
Number of pomegranates and dragonfruits in the end is the same.
3 u - 30 = 1 u - 2
3 u - 1 u = 30 - 2
2 u = 28
1 u = 28 ÷ 2 = 14
Number of fruits in the end
= 1 u - 2 + 3 u - 30
= 4 u - 32
= 4 x 14 - 32
= 56 - 32
= 24
