Difference in the length between the second and the third piece
= 3 m
= 3 x 100
= 300 cm

Length of a pipe
= 6 m 5 cm
= 6 x 100 + 5
= 605 cm

Length of the first piece = 35 cm
Length of the second piece = 1 u
Length of the third piece = 1 u + 300 cm

1 u + 1 u + 300 + 35 = 605
2 u + 335 = 605
2 u = 605 - 335 = 270
1 u = 270 ÷ 2 = 135 

Length of the third piece of pipe
= 1 u + 300
= 135 + 300
= 435 cm
