Pattern 1: 1 x 3 + 5 = 8
Pattern 2: 2 x 3 + 5 = 11
Pattern 3: 3 x 3 + 5 = 14
Formula:
Total number of squares = Pattern number x 3 + 5
Number of squares in Pattern 10
= 10 x 3 + 5
= 35
(b)
Pattern number x 3 + 5 = 125
Pattern number x 3 = 125 - 5
Pattern number x 3 = 120
Pattern number = 120 ÷ 3
Pattern number = 40
