Mrs Archie bought a blouse and a bracelet at a discount. She spent a total of $65.50 on these two items. She spent $24.10 more on the bracelet than on the blouse.

1. How much did she spend on the bracelet?
2. The total discount given for the two items was $13.50. She was given a 10% discount for the blouse. What was the percentage discount given for the bracelet?

Amount spent on the blouse = 1 u
Amount spent on the bracelet = 1 u + 24.10

Total amount spent on the blouse and the bracelet
= 1 u + 1 u + 24.10
= 2 u + 24.10

2 u + 24.10 = 65.50
2 u = 65.50 - 24.10
2 u = 41.40

1 u = 41.40 ÷ 2 = 20.70

Amount that Mrs Archie spent on the bracelet
= 20.70 + 24.10
= $44.80
