Mrs Vaidev bought a jacket and a bracelet at a discount. She spent a total of $68.10 on these two items. She spent $48.90 more on the bracelet than on the jacket.

1. How much did she spend on the bracelet?
2. The total discount given for the two items was $8.90. She was given a 20% discount for the jacket. What was the percentage discount given for the bracelet?

Amount spent on the jacket = 1 u
Amount spent on the bracelet = 1 u + 48.90

Total amount spent on the jacket and the bracelet
= 1 u + 1 u + 48.90
= 2 u + 48.90

2 u + 48.90 = 68.10
2 u = 68.10 - 48.90
2 u = 19.20

1 u = 19.20 ÷ 2 = 9.60

Amount that Mrs Vaidev spent on the bracelet
= 9.60 + 48.90
= $58.50

= $6.50

Original price of the bracelet
= 58.50 + 6.50
= $65
