Upon reaching the end of the track, Hazel rested for 4 minutes. She then immediately ran back along the same route at 3 m/s. At 7.30 a.m., Jen met Hazel.

Duration that Hazel ran = 30 -  4 = 26 min

= 2 x 1800
= 3600 m

Distance that Hazel ran
= 3 x 1560
= 4680 m

Distance that Jen and Hazel ran
= 3600 + 4680
= 8280 m

1000 m = 1 km

8280 m = 8280 ÷ 1000 = 8.28 km
