Upon reaching the end of the path, Abi rested for 6 minutes. She then immediately ran back along the same route at 4 m/s. At 9.25 a.m., Esther met Abi.

1. Find the total distance covered by the two runners when they met each other. Express your answer in km.
2. Find the length of the trail in km.

Duration that Esther ran = 25 min
Duration that Abi ran = 25 -  6 = 19 min

19 min = 19 x 60 = 1140 s

Distance that Esther ran
= 1 x 1500
= 1500 m

Distance that Abi ran
= 4 x 1140
= 4560 m

Distance that Esther and Abi ran
= 1500 + 4560
= 6060 m

1000 m = 1 km

6060 m = 6060 ÷ 1000 = 6.06 km
