Upon reaching the end of the pathway, Opal rested for 5 minutes. She then immediately ran back along the same route at 4 m/s. At 7.25 a.m., Kathy met Opal.

1. Find the total distance covered by the two runners when they met each other. Express your answer in km.

= 1 x 1500

Distance that Opal ran
= 4 x 1200
= 4800 m

Distance that Kathy and Opal ran
= 1500 + 4800
= 6300 m
