The graph shows the number of beads 3 pupils collected. Study the graph and answer the following.
- Who collected 28 beads? Give the answer in number. (Eg 1)
- Which 2 pupils collected a total of 48 beads? Give the answer in numbers. (Eg 1, 2)
- How many beads must Jane give to Elsa so that both of them would have the same number of beads?
(a)
4 beads → 1 circle
28 beads → 28 ÷ 4 = 7 circles
(2) Ava had 7 circles so she collected 28 beads.
(b)
Total number of circles represented by 48 beads
= 48 ÷ 4
= 12
Number of circles that Elsa and Ava had
= 7 + 5
= 12
2 pupils who collected a total of 48 beads are (2) Ava and (3) Elsa.
(c)
Difference in the number of circles between Jane and Elsa
= 6 - 5
= 1
Number of beads that Jane must give to Elsa
= 1 ÷ 2 x 4
= 2
Answer(s): (a) 2; (b) 2, 3; (c) 2
