The graph shows the number of coins 3 pupils collected. Study the graph and answer the following.
- Who collected 10 coins? Give the answer in number. (Eg 1)
- Which 2 pupils collected a total of 26 coins? Give the answer in numbers. (Eg 1, 2)
- How many coins must Chloe give to Kitty so that both of them would have the same number of coins?
(a)
2 coins → 1 box
10 coins → 10 ÷ 2 = 5 boxes
(3) Kitty has 5 boxes so she collected 10 coins.
(b)
Total number of boxes represented by 26 coins
= 26 ÷ 2
= 13
Number of boxes that Mandy and Kitty had
= 8 + 5
= 13
2 pupils who collected a total of 26 coins are (1) Mandy and (3) Kitty.
(c)
Difference in the number of boxes between Chloe and Kitty
= 6 - 5
= 1
Number of coins that Chloe must give to Kitty
= 1 ÷ 2 x 2
= 1
Answer(s): (a) 3; (b) 1, 3; (c) 1
