The graph shows the number of buttons 3 pupils collected. Study the graph and answer the following.
- Who collected 35 buttons? Give the answer in number. (Eg 1)
- Which 2 pupils collected a total of 65 buttons? Give the answer in numbers. (Eg 1, 2)
- How many buttons must Candy give to Della so that both of them would have the same number of buttons?
(a)
5 buttons → 1 triangle
35 buttons → 35 ÷ 5 = 7 triangles
(2) Ginny has 7 triangles so she collected 35 buttons.
(b)
Total number of triangles represented by 65 buttons
= 65 ÷ 5
= 13
Number of triangles that Ginny and Della had
= 7 + 6
= 13
2 pupils who collected a total of 65 buttons are (2) Ginny and (3) Della.
(c)
Difference in the number of triangles that Candy and Della had
= 8 - 6
= 2
Number of buttons that Candy must give to Della
= 2 ÷ 2 x 5
= 5
Answer(s): (a) 2; (b) 2, 3; (c) 5
