The graph shows the number of beads 3 pupils collected. Study the graph and answer the following.
- Who collected 42 beads? Give the answer in number. (Eg 1)
- Which 2 pupils collected a total of 72 beads? Give the answer in numbers. (Eg 1, 2)
- How many beads must Vina give to Anna so that both of them would have the same number of beads?
(a)
6 beads → 1 circle
42 beads → 42 ÷ 6 = 7 circles
(2) Jen had 7 circles so she collected 42 beads.
(b)
Total number of circles represented by 72 beads
= 72 ÷ 6
= 12
Number of circles that Anna and Jen had
= 7 + 5
= 12
2 pupils who collected a total of 72 beads are (2) Jen and (3) Anna.
(c)
Difference in the number of circles between Vina and Anna
= 6 - 5
= 1
Number of beads that Vina must give to Anna
= 1 ÷ 2 x 6
= 3
Answer(s): (a) 2; (b) 2, 3; (c) 3
