The graph shows the number of marbles 3 pupils collected. Study the graph and answer the following.
- Who collected 56 marbles? Give the answer in number. (Eg 1)
- Which 2 pupils collected a total of 96 marbles? Give the answer in numbers. (Eg 1, 2)
- How many marbles must May give to Nora so that both of them would have the same number of marbles?
(a)
8 marbles → 1 circle
56 marbles → 56 ÷ 8 = 7 circles
(2) Ginny had 7 circles so she collected 56 marbles.
(b)
Total number of circles represented by 96 marbles
= 96 ÷ 8
= 12
Number of circles that Nora and Ginny had
= 7 + 5
= 12
2 pupils who collected a total of 96 marbles are (2) Ginny and (3) Nora.
(c)
Difference in the number of circles between May and Nora
= 6 - 5
= 1
Number of marbles that May must give to Nora
= 1 ÷ 2 x 8
= 4
Answer(s): (a) 2; (b) 2, 3; (c) 4
