The graph shows the number of stamps 3 pupils collected. Study the graph and answer the following.
- Who collected 8 stamps? Give the answer in number. (Eg 1)
- Which 2 pupils collected a total of 20 stamps? Give the answer in numbers. (Eg 1, 2)
- How many stamps must Ava give to Riley so that both of them would have the same number of stamps?
(a)
2 stamps → 1 box
8 stamps → 8 ÷ 2 = 4 boxes
(1) Eliza has 4 boxes so she collected 8 stamps.
(b)
Total number of boxes represented by 20 stamps
= 20 ÷ 2
= 10
Number of boxes that Eliza and Ava had
= 4 + 6
= 10
2 pupils who collected a total of 20 stamps are (1) Eliza and (3) Ava.
(c)
Difference in the number of boxes between Ava and Riley
= 6 - 5
= 1
Number of stamps that Ava must give to Riley
= 1 ÷ 2 x 2
= 1
Answer(s): (a) 1; (b) 1, 3; (c) 1
