2. Abi spent an equal amount of money on mangosteens and pomegranates. In terms of their masses, what was the ratio of mangosteens to the ratio of pomegranates Abi bought?

LCM of 5 and 3 = 15

One set = 15 kg of mangosteens and 15 kg of pomegranates

Number of sets of 5 kg of mangosteens
= 15 ÷ 5
= 3

Number of sets of 3 kg of pomegranates
= 15 ÷ 3
= 5

Difference in price of mangosteens and pomegranates in one set
= 3 x 7 - 5 x 3
= 21 - 15
= $6

Number of sets
= 18 ÷ 6
= 3

Mass of mangosteens and pomegranates in one set
= 15 + 15
= 30 kg

Total mass of fruits bought
= 3 x 30
= 90 kg

LCM of 7 and 3 = 21

Number of sets of 5 kg of mangosteens to be bought with $21
= 21 ÷ 7
= 3

Mass of 3 sets of 5 kg of mangosteens
= 3 x 5
= 15 kg

Number of sets of 3 kg of mangosteens to be bought with $21
= 21 ÷ 3
= 7

Mass of 7 sets of 3 kg of pomegranates
= 7 x 3
= 21 kg

Mass of mangosteens : Mass of pomegranates
