Make the number of marbles that each child has the same. LCM of 8, 6 and 4 = 24

Number of marbles that each child has = 24 u

Number of marbles in 1 packet of Victoria's marbles = 24 u ÷ 8 = 3 u
Number of marbles in 1 packet of Jade's marbles = 24 u ÷ 6 = 4 u
Number of marbles in 1 packet of Rachel's marbles = 24 u ÷ 4 = 6 u

Number of marbles in 6 packets of Victoria's marbles, 5 packets of Jade's marbles and 2 packets of Rachel's marbles
= (6 x 3 u) + (5 x 4 u) + (2 x 6 u)
= 18 u + 20 u + 12 u
= 50 u

50 u = 300

1 u = 300 ÷ 50 = 6

Total number of marbles that they have
= 3 x 24 u
= 72 u
= 72 x 6
= 432
