The total number of apricot muffins made up 23% of the total number of muffins they made. How many apple muffins did they make altogether?

Esther

Number of apple muffins in percent
= 100% - 23%
= 77%

1 u + 64 + 1 p = 23% --- (1)
1 u + 1 p + 172 = 77% --- (2)

77% - 23% = 172 - 64
54% = 108

1% = 108 ÷ 54 = 2

Number of apple muffins that they made altogether
= 77%
= 77 x 2
