Gabby and Ivory made some apricot puffs and strawberry puffs. Gabby made 30 more apricot puffs than strawberry puffs. Ivory made 126 more strawberry puffs than apricot puffs. The total number of apricot puffs made up 42% of the total number of puffs they made. How many apricot puffs did they make altogether?

Number of apricot puffs = 1 u + 30

Ivory
Number of apricot puffs = 1 p
Number of strawberry puffs = 1 p + 126

Number of strawberry puffs in percent
= 100% - 42%
= 58%

1 u + 30 + 1 p = 42% --- (1)
1 u + 1 p + 126 = 58% --- (2)

58% - 42% = 126 - 30
16% = 96

1% = 96 ÷ 16 = 6

Number of apricot puffs that they made altogether
= 42%
= 42 x 6
= 252
