The total number of chocolate chip muffins made up 45% of the total number of muffins they made. How many chocolate chip muffins did they make altogether?

Number of chocolate chip muffins = 1 u + 109

Cindy

Number of apple muffins = 1 p + 129

Number of apple muffins in percent
= 100% - 45%
= 55%

1 u + 109 + 1 p = 45% --- (1)
1 u + 1 p + 129 = 55% --- (2)

55% - 45% = 129 - 109
10% = 20

1% = 20 ÷ 10 = 2

Number of chocolate chip muffins that they made altogether
= 45%
= 45 x 2
