The total number of apple muffins made up 43% of the total number of muffins they made. How many apple muffins did they make altogether?

Number of apple muffins = 1 u + 15

Penelope
Number of apple muffins = 1 p
Number of cranberry muffins = 1 p + 99

Number of cranberry muffins in percent
= 100% - 43%
= 57%

1 u + 15 + 1 p = 43% --- (1)
1 u + 1 p + 99 = 57% --- (2)

57% - 43% = 99 - 15
14% = 84

1% = 84 ÷ 14 = 6

Number of apple muffins that they made altogether
= 43%
= 43 x 6
= 258
