Xandra and Cindy made some vanilla muffins and cheese muffins. Xandra made 25 more vanilla muffins than cheese muffins. Cindy made 185 more cheese muffins than vanilla muffins. The total number of vanilla muffins made up 40% of the total number of muffins they made. How many cheese muffins did they make altogether?

Number of cheese muffins = 1 u
Number of vanilla muffins = 1 u + 25

Cindy
Number of vanilla muffins = 1 p
Number of cheese muffins = 1 p + 185

Number of cheese muffins in percent
= 100% - 40%
= 60%

1 u + 25 + 1 p = 40% --- (1)
1 u + 1 p + 185 = 60% --- (2)

60% - 40% = 185 - 25
20% = 160

1% = 160 ÷ 20 = 8

Number of cheese muffins that they made altogether
= 60%
= 60 x 8
= 480
