Usha and Irene made some apple buns and strawberry buns. Usha made 26 more apple buns than strawberry buns. Irene made 146 more strawberry buns than apple buns. The total number of apple buns made up 45% of the total number of buns they made. How many strawberry buns did they make altogether?

Irene
Number of apple buns = 1 p
Number of strawberry buns = 1 p + 146

Number of strawberry buns in percent
= 100% - 45%
= 55%

1 u + 26 + 1 p = 45% --- (1)
1 u + 1 p + 146 = 55% --- (2)

55% - 45% = 146 - 26
10% = 120

1% = 120 ÷ 10 = 12

Number of strawberry buns that they made altogether
= 55%
= 55 x 12
= 660
