Abi made 157 more apricot croissants than strawberry croissants. The total number of strawberry croissants made up 44% of the total number of croissants they made. How many strawberry croissants did they make altogether?

Number of strawberry croissants = 1 u + 85

Abi
Number of strawberry croissants = 1 p
Number of apricot croissants = 1 p + 157

Number of apricot croissants in percent
= 100% - 44%
= 56%

1 u + 85 + 1 p = 44% --- (1)
1 u + 1 p + 157 = 56% --- (2)

56% - 44% = 157 - 85
12% = 72

1% = 72 ÷ 12 = 6

= 44%
