Emily and Wendy made some cherry muffins and blueberry muffins. Emily made 80 more cherry muffins than blueberry muffins. Wendy made 180 more blueberry muffins than cherry muffins. The total number of cherry muffins made up 40% of the total number of muffins they made. How many blueberry muffins did they make altogether?

Number of blueberry muffins = 1 u
Number of cherry muffins = 1 u + 80

Wendy
Number of cherry muffins = 1 p
Number of blueberry muffins = 1 p + 180

Number of blueberry muffins in percent
= 100% - 40%
= 60%

1 u + 80 + 1 p = 40% --- (1)
1 u + 1 p + 180 = 60% --- (2)

60% - 40% = 180 - 80
20% = 100

1% = 100 ÷ 20 = 5

Number of blueberry muffins that they made altogether
= 60%
= 60 x 5
= 300
