Rachel and Gabby made some vanilla puffs and cherry puffs. Rachel made 23 more vanilla puffs than cherry puffs. Gabby made 119 more cherry puffs than vanilla puffs. The total number of vanilla puffs made up 34% of the total number of puffs they made. How many vanilla puffs did they make altogether?

Number of cherry puffs = 1 u
Number of vanilla puffs = 1 u + 23

Gabby
Number of vanilla puffs = 1 p
Number of cherry puffs = 1 p + 119

Number of cherry puffs in percent
= 100% - 34%
= 66%

1 u + 23 + 1 p = 34% --- (1)
1 u + 1 p + 119 = 66% --- (2)

66% - 34% = 119 - 23
32% = 96

1% = 96 ÷ 32 = 3

Number of vanilla puffs that they made altogether
= 34%
= 34 x 3
